Allow my to introduce myself, beginning by saying…I’m Danni. I am the master of this domain! (makes me sound powerful). I am obviously vegan, and use this blog primarily to share recipes, tips on healthy/green living, recipe/book reviews, alongside events that go on in my life and the world in general. A major focal point for me other than veganism is the topic of eating disorders. I will put it out in the forefront – for the past few years I have been struggling with a disordered body image and disordered eating habits. I cook, I bake…I don’t eat it. I am on the path towards recovery, which is something I will continue to document. So that also means I will give tips on what I am doing to cope, as well as offer the options for those who struggle in similar (or different!) ways to share their experiences, tips and stories. A frequent topic to expect from me is Shambhala and Buddhism in general, which I am using in conjunction with veganism to heal myself so I can live a happy and healthy life.
And why “kitschy?” Because, I’m quirky! Just because I have body image issues, it doesn’t mean that I am not a happy person. Granted, I’m not the “happy-go-lucky” type, but rather I find enjoyment out of silly little things, especially all things retro, vintage, antique, and second hand. I have a unique style and love fashion for fashion’s sake. I would, however, advocate buying expensive clothing. There is nothing more satisfying that finding a sale on a unique piece, making it your own, be it from a department store, clothing retail store, or thrift shoppe. That is fashion (something I may go on about at some points in time…).
Other things about me? Well, I’m 20, an Asian Studies major (my focus is in India), a coffee addict, a Beatle geek, who loves drawing, yoga, meditation, walking, reading/writing, and cats! So that’s me. If you are interested in anything else, contact me at:

Danni! Danni! You look so cute and vibrant in this new photo! And I loved reading about you here. I’m trying to remember that food is a way to honor my health while loving and accepting myself. Plus, it tastes good (smile)…all of this helps me a bit. Hope you keep on with your super healthy vegan lifestyle or whatever lifestyle helps you feel good about things:)
p.s. I love Elton John too.
I love this new picture and all about you !!!!:))))))
So glad you stopped by my blog so I could find yours! We seem to have a lot in common. I love how you described that although you’re stuggling, you can still be happy sometimes. I totally get that. I, too, find many great things in Shambala/Buddhism and although I study religion, I think I should have studied philosophy. Love the beatles, meditation, reading, writing, walking, etc.
best! I’ll be back
Hi Danni, I’m the woman behind the cranberry almond cookies from the cookie swap. I tried to email you but it bounced. I guess I took the Secret Santa thing too literally! You can find me at pixieanddustyeat(dot)blogspot(dot)com. Hope you enjoy the cookies!

Why haven’t I learned more about you before!?
I have struggled with eating disorders for the past few years – haven’t mentioned it on the blog because it’s not something I’m very comfortable sharing. But I’m glad to find someone with a similar background.
I really like the Beatles too. Just so you know.
Hm, I don’t know! I tend to remain elusive, even in the blogging realm.
Yeah, the whole eating disorder thing is a hard subject for a lot to people to talk about. I find, however, that blogging about it gets some of the stress and insecurities off of my chest. It makes things a little more bearable for me. I just hope to be relatable to people…and hopefully not trigger anyone in the process. If you ever want to talk about that sort of thing, like if you’re struggling or something like that, feel free to drop me a line.
Groovy! What’s your favourite song? They are seriously the best…I love them.
Oh thanks, I really appreciate you offering that to me
I guess you’re right though. I do see how blogging about it could help relieve some of the stress that comes too. Maybe eventually I’ll be able to do that.
My favourite Beatles song is Dear Prudence. But I really, really love Tomorrow Never Knows as well. I collect vinyl records and I’m always looking for Beatles records, but most people don’t give those things out. I have been lucky a couple times though. I got the White Album last month
What’s your favourite song?
No problem
It can be a major stress reliever, but it took me a really really long time to even bring up on my blog the fact that I have an eating disorder. I felt almost hypocritical posting recipes that I wasn’t even consuming, and I was worried whether people would judge me negatively for having one…but I’ve received little to no negative feedback…mostly just support! I think it was really worth it. It feels good and not so “trapped up” acknowledging it.
Nice, I love Dear Prudence and Tomorrow Never Knows as well (Revolver is one of my favourite albums as a whole). I collect vinyl as well! Beatles records are so bloody hard to find! It feels like I win the lottery when I find one, though! That’s so cool that you got the White Album on vinyl!! (this girl’s jealous!) I think the most recent one I got was Sgt. Pepper from my aunt for my birthday
It’s my dream someday to have in my possession the infamous “butcher cover” Yesterday and Today vinyl!
Oh gosh…my favourite song…I would have to say…While My Guitar Gently Weeps. Or perhaps Across The Universe. I’m a fan of a lot of their later material. And solo work by John and George. That’s some good stuff
Hi Danni, I tried emailing you but it bounced. I absolutely love your blog! I thought I would reach out to you because I am actually looking for recipe contributors for my upcoming vegan cookzine Hungry Monkey which benefits rescued laboratory monkeys.
This new issue will be “The Vegan Doughnut Issue” with tons of recipes contributed by bloggers. All money made goes directly to 8 rescued laboratory monkeys who live in Oklahoma now.
I was wondering if you would be able to contribute a recipe for Fat Free Baked Doughnuts & Banana Split Doughnuts to my zine? I will most definitely give you credit, in fact, there would be a little blurb at the top of the page that promotes your blog http://healthykitschyvegan.wordpress.com.
I hope you decide to contribute a recipe to make this zine a success! I look forward to hearing back from you. If you could email me back at sanctuaryfunds@gmail.com when you get a chance that would be great.
Xoxo
